Comedy legends Will Forte and Tina Fey are teaming up once again in Netflix’s comedy-drama series The Four Seasons. Having first met back in 2002 during their days on Saturday Night Live (SNL), the longtime friends and former co-stars are sharing the screen as a married couple.
In an exclusive interview, Will Forte opened up about what it was like working alongside Tina Fey, why he still feels a sense of healthy pressure around her, and what makes her an unmatched force in modern television.
A Nostalgic Reunion After Saturday Night Live
Will Forte and Tina Fey share a professional history that spans over two decades. Their journey began at NBC’s Studio 8H in 2002, where Fey was serving as SNL’s head writer and Forte was starting his run as a cast member. Over the years, the duo crossed paths on projects like 30 Rock and the film Baby Mama.
However, The Four Seasons—a series co-created, written, executive produced, and directed by Tina Fey—brings them closer than ever. Forte plays Jack, an empathetic history teacher, opposite Fey’s character Kate, an organized woman navigating the complexities of long-term marriage and aging.
Will Forte Calls Working with Tina Fey an “Absolute Honor”
Despite their deep friendship, Forte confessed that stepping onto set opposite Fey still gave him butterflies.
“I have known Tina for years, but coming in, you’re still a little nervous—you want to do a good job,” Forte shared. “She’s comedy royalty. Not only is she maybe the best there ever has been at comedy writing, but to have the honor of actually playing her husband? Wow. What an honor.”
Forte also highlighted Fey’s unique genius as a showrunner. Beyond writing sharp scripts, she excels at assembling top-tier production teams, retaining crew members from 30 Rock to build a supportive and joy-filled set atmosphere.
What Netflix’s The Four Seasons Is About
